Description

Scopely is seeking a highly motivated Data Governance Expert to join our Playgami team in Barcelona!

At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to encourage play every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing, and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people worldwide daily.

Playgami is building the best SaaS gaming platform ever! The team strives to build the world’s best products for game production, operation, and insights. Powering many award-winning, loved-by-millions franchise games over mobile, web, and PC.

What You’ll Do

This role is for an expert who can build and run an enterprise-scale data governance program for a global EDW, with strong fluency across Security, Compliance, and Legal. You will not be hands-on technical, but you will influence technical teams to implement governance rules and controls, and you will chair a complex, globally distributed Data Governance Council.

  • Support the execution of Scopely’s data governance strategy for the global data warehouse
  • Work closely with Security, Privacy, Legal, Compliance, and data teams to translate requirements into clear and actionable policies
  • Help define and implement governance frameworks such as data classification, PII handling, access control, and data lifecycle management
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure governance policies are implemented correctly in data platforms
  • Contribute to access governance processes, including approvals, reviews, and monitoring
  • Help maintain documentation, decision logs, and governance guidelines to ensure transparency and consistency
  • Identify risks related to data usage and support mitigation plans with clear tracking
  • Assist in improving processes, templates, and training materials to increase adoption across teams
  • Support governance needs for new projects, tools, and integrations, including emerging areas like AI usage
  • Participate in governance forums and working groups, contributing to decisions and alignment
  • Contribute to defining data ownership and accountability across datasets
  • Support the implementation of data classification and sensitivity models
  • Help ensure appropriate use of sensitive data based on business needs
  • Assist in defining and applying data lifecycle policies, such as retention and archiving
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to balance data access, risk, and business value

What We’re Looking For

  • 4 to 7 years of experience in data governance, data management, privacy, compliance, or related areas
  • Good understanding of data security and privacy concepts, such as PII handling, access control, and auditability
  • Bachelors in Computer Science or related field
  • Experience working with data teams to implement policies in real systems
  • Ability to translate requirements into practical solutions with technical teams
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work across different teams and functions
  • Pragmatic mindset, you focus on solutions that work in real environments
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with evolving needs
  • Full on-site presence in the Barcelona office (5 days per week).

Bonus Points

  • Experience with modern data platforms such as BigQuery or Snowflake
  • Familiarity with IAM concepts and BI tools
  • Exposure to regulated environments or sensitive data domains
  • Experience working in multi-team or global organizations
