Opportunity
A compelling opportunity has arisen to join our Anaesthetics and Intensive Care Medicine team at an NHS Foundation Trust serving the community of West Norfolk and the surrounding region. Pulse Doctors are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Consultant to contribute across both the anaesthetic and critical care services.
This is a varied and clinically rewarding post, offering a genuine breadth of work across elective and emergency anaesthesia and Level 2/3 critical care. The successful candidate will join a close-knit, supportive department with a strong safety culture and a commitment to continuous improvement.
We recognise that the best consultants thrive when their professional and personal needs are respected. This post offers flexible job planning, a generous SPA allocation, and a structured on-call commitment. Subspecialty interests – whether in pain medicine, airway, regional anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia, or critical care – are welcomed and actively supported.
Applications from candidates seeking full-time or less-than-full-time arrangements are equally welcome. This is an outstanding opportunity to build a fulfilling career while enjoying the exceptional lifestyle that West Norfolk has to offer.

- Lead the daily clinical management of ICU patients, including ward rounds, clinical decision-making, and family communication.
- Oversee the safe management of mechanical ventilation, haemodynamic monitoring, renal replacement therapy, and other organ support modalities.
- Contribute to the critical care on-call rota, providing timely senior decision-making for acutely deteriorating patients across the Trust.

Location in Detail
This post is based in West Norfolk, a distinctive and rewarding part of England that offers an exceptional quality of life alongside a fulfilling clinical career.
West Norfolk is a largely rural and coastal county, home to dramatic landscapes including the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Broads, and miles of unspoilt beaches. The area is well known for its strong sense of community, low crime rates, and significantly lower cost of living compared to London and the South East.
Local towns offer excellent schools (state and independent), a vibrant arts and culture scene, and outstanding outdoor pursuits including sailing, cycling, horse riding and walking. The region is also renowned for its food and drink – from fresh seafood to award-winning local produce.
Transport links are good, with direct rail connections to Cambridge and London Liverpool Street, making the area accessible for those with ties to the city. Norwich, the county city of Norfolk, is approximately 45 minutes by road and offers further retail, dining, and cultural amenities.
For candidates considering relocation, West Norfolk offers an outstanding place to raise a family, enjoy a calmer pace of life, or pursue interests outside of medicine – without compromising on professional challenge or career progression.
