Description

The NFL is seeking a Seasonal Production Delivery Specialist for a 7-month seasonal position at NFL Films, a world-class professional sports media company and producer of Emmy Award-winning series such as HBO NFL Hard Knocks, Netflix Quarterback and Receiver, Amazon Kelce and Bye Bye Barry, NFL Films Presents, ESPN Match Up, and Inside the NFL.

The Specialist will be responsible for the handling, compressing and the final transmission of some of the file-based content that NFL Films produces from our 200,000 square-foot facility and studios in Mt. Laurel, NJ. The finished spots, shows and media content will require transcoding to specific digital media file formats and then delivering through file transfer platforms to production managers, external broadcast and media partners and clients in a timely fashion.

Essential Functions

  • The Specialist is primarily responsible for receiving and fulfilling work orders for daily and weekly scheduled media compressions and deliveries. Work orders will specify timetables, source files, compression settings or preset settings, delivery destinations and notifications.
  • They will be required to recognize, troubleshoot, and correct media file issues such as trimming, audio channel mixing, interlacing and pulldown errors, and compression errors in the final product.
  • They will need to analyze media files for compliance within various technical specifications and evaluate overall picture and sound quality.
  • They will collaborate with project managers and schedulers to help determine and select appropriate compressions and delivery methods.

Required Education and Experience

  • Versed in compressing media files with software encoders such as Adobe Media Encoder, Adobe Premiere or DaVinci Resolve for broadcast systems or social media.
  • Comfortable with handling very large media files through enterprise-level storage systems. Able to efficiently navigate through very large file storage volumes across multiple operating systems and software.
  • Bachelor's level degree or equivalent professional experience in media or communications field.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • They should be comfortable working with and creating digital media file types such as h.264, Apple Quicktime and the ProRes codec family, MPEG-2, and working with media characteristics such as frame rates, data rates, caption streams and audio configurations.
  • Experience with enterprise-level compression and media processing platforms such as Telestream Vantage Encoder is not necessary but preferred.
  • Familiarity with working with large file delivery services and platforms such as Signiant’s Media Transfer, Aspera, and Frame.io is not necessary but preferred.
  • Experience with media asset management (M.A.M.) software applications such as CatDV is helpful.
  • Experience with editing and post-production software and processes is helpful.

Other Key Attributes / Characteristics

  • The candidate should be very detail-oriented -- they will be analyzing and delivering final media files that should meet our outside partners’ and clients’ technical specifications.
  • They should be able to work both collaboratively within our departmental and within our greater organization but also be able to work independently and unsupervised on focused tasks.
  • The candidate should be comfortable communicating by email, telephone and in person.
  • They will need to be flexible and agile while prioritizing and executing unique projects daily.
  • At the NFL, we believe leadership is everybody's responsibility and is demonstrated when we (1) know our business, (2) inspire, (3) think big, (4) build talent, (5) execute, and (6) live our values. Our values are respect, integrity, responsibility to the team and resiliency.

Physical Demands

  • There are no physical demands. Will be working in a shared office environment.
  • Some remote options are available.

Terms / Expected Hours of Work

  • Up to 7 months
  • up to 40 hours per week in office

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
