Autism Assessor (Children & Young People)
Location: Hybrid - Primarily East London (face-to-face assessments and therapy, remote follow-ups and meetings)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-time, flexible across weekdays (flexibility around childcare and personal commitments)
Our client is seeking an experienced and compassionate Autism Assessor to join their growing neurodevelopmental team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist service providing high-quality autism assessments and emotional wellbeing support for children, young people and their families.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will deliver autism assessments, contribute to diagnostic decision-making and help shape a developing service that puts children, families and clinicians at the heart of everything they do.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive autism assessments for children and young people in line with NICE guidance and best practice.
- Complete structured developmental interviews with parents and carers using tools such as ADI-R
- Deliver observational and play-based assessments, including ADOS-2 where trained.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team discussions and diagnostic decision-making.
- Gather and evaluate information from schools, families and other professionals.
- Produce high-quality, child-centred clinical reports outlining strengths, needs and diagnostic outcomes.
- Provide clear and sensitive feedback to children, young people and their families.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in line with professional standards.
- Participate in supervision, reflective practice and team development meetings.
- Support service development across autism, Right to Choose, trauma-informed and educational pathways.
Requirements:
- Professional registration with one of the following:
- HCPC Registered Occupational Therapist
- HCPC Registered Speech and Language Therapist
- Minimum two years' experience conducting autism assessments for children and young people.
- Experience using autism assessment tools such as ADOS-2, ADI-R, 3Di and/or ACE.
- Excellent report writing, communication and clinical reasoning skills.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and ethical clinical practice.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
