About Luminary Hospice:

At Luminary Hospice, we are a mission-driven organization that empowers our team members to shape our culture in order to allow them to provide the highest quality support to patients and families throughout their entire end-of-life journey.

Our mission is to deliver personalized care that radiates compassion and preserves dignity for all that we are honored to serve on their end-of-life journey. We are centered on caring for the whole person – with expert medical care, pain management as well as emotional and spiritual support along with resources, information, and emotional support for families and caregivers.

About the role:

The Regional Resource Nurse (RN) is a highly skilled, adaptable clinical leader who provides short-term, high-impact nursing and operational support across multiple hospice locations. This role is designed to stabilize operations, support staffing gaps, and ensure continuity of quality patient care during times of transition, growth, or increased census.

  • This position requires approximately 90% travel and flexibility to deploy where nursing or Director of Clinical Services (DCS) support is most needed. The Regional Resource Nurse is cross-trained in DCS duties and responsibilities and may temporarily assume clinical leadership or patient care responsibilities to ensure compliance, quality, and operational continuity.

Job Responsibilities:

Clinical & Patient Care Support:

  • Provides direct patient care when assigned, including admissions, routine visits, and complex symptom management.
  • Completes comprehensive patient and family assessments and participates in development and revision of individualized plans of care.
  • Utilizes the nursing process to deliver high-quality, compliant hospice care in alignment with physician orders and hospice regulations.
  • Serves as interim Case Manager or clinical support as needed to maintain census stability and patient continuity.
  • Supports high-acuity or complex cases requiring experienced hospice nursing expertise.

Regional Resource & Staffing Support:

  • Deploys to hospice locations experiencing staffing shortages, leadership vacancies, census growth, or operational strain.
  • Provides temporary coverage for nursing staff and/or DCS roles when needed.
  • Assists with onboarding, mentoring, and stabilizing new clinical staff and leaders.
  • Supports branch leadership with workflow organization and productivity optimization.

Cross-Trained DCS Responsibilities:

  • Functions in a DCS capacity when assigned.
  • Supports compliance with hospice Conditions of Participation and accreditation standards.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary group (IDG) meetings.
  • Assists with clinical audits, documentation reviews, and quality initiatives.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Maintains accurate, timely clinical documentation.
  • Communicates effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Collaborates with leadership to identify risks and improvement opportunities.

Job Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current RN licensure (multi-state preferred).
  • Minimum of 2–3 years hospice experience.
  • Strong clinical judgment and leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 90%.
  • Valid driver’s license and insured transportation.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit or stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
