What You'll Do:

The Manager, Nursing plays a vital leadership role in shaping the quality, safety, and experience of care within a 24/7/365 facility. This position provides clinical, operational, and administrative leadership for nursing services and designated clinical support staff, ensuring patients receive compassionate, high-quality, patient-centered care that aligns with organizational policies, evidence-based practice, accreditation standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

As a key leader within the interdisciplinary team, the Nurse Manager inspires, guides, and develops nursing personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, professional growth, and continuous improvement. Through strong communication and partnership with physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health staff, and operational leaders, this role helps create a supportive team environment that enables staff to perform at their best and advances the organization’s mission, values, and strategic objectives.

Nursing & Clinical Leadership

  • Provides leadership, direction, and operational oversight for the nursing department and all clinical support staff, ensuring high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with organizational policies, evidenced-based practice, and regulatory standards.
  • Perform all essential functions of a Registered Nurse as necessary to support patient care and departmental operations.
  • Supervises, coaches, mentors, and evaluates nursing staff and designated clinical personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversees daily nursing operations, including staffing, patient assignments, patient flow, admissions, transfers, discharges, and clinical resource allocation to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Manages efficient admissions, transfers, discharges, and continuity of care in collaboration with interdisciplinary partners.
  • Develops staffing plans based on patient census, acuity, and operational needs while ensuring appropriate nurse-to-patient staffing ratios and effective utilization of personnel.
  • Supports budget stewardship through effective staffing, scheduling, resource utilization, and overtime management.
  • Serves as the clinical and operational escalation point for complex patient care concerns, behavioral emergencies, staffing issues, and operational challenges.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, behavioral health staff, operations leaders, pharmacy, and other interdisciplinary team members to promote coordinated, high-quality patient care.

Clinical Oversight & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure all nursing practice complies, and clinical interventions align with established protocols, evidence-based practices, and regulatory standards, including those set by Joint Commission (JCAHO), the Nurse Practice Act and other relevant agencies applicable regulatory standards.
  • Monitor clinical quality indicators, patient safety events, medication management practices, infection prevention activities, restraint and seclusion compliance, and patient outcomes to identify trends and implement performance improvement initiatives, patient care outcomes and work with clinical leadership to implement continuous quality improvement initiatives across nursing and other clinical departments
  • Monitors clinical quality indicators, infection prevention, incident trends, regulatory compliance, staff competencies, and patient outcomes to identify opportunities to improve the safety, effectiveness, and efficiency of nursing services.
  • Oversees investigations and follow up related to incidents, medication variances, patient complaints, employee injuries, and safety concerns, ensuring appropriate documentation and corrective action
  • Conducts routine chart audits and documentation reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and regulatory compliance. Provides timely feedback and corrective coaching as needed.
  • Promotes regulatory readiness by maintaining compliance with accreditation standards and participating in surveys, inspections, and corrective active planning.
  • Supports change management initiatives and performance improvement efforts that advance operational excellence and alignment with organizational priorities.

Staff Development & Leadership

  • Identifies educational and competencies of nursing staff and coordinates orientation, onboarding, annual competencies, continuing education, and required certifications.
  • Provide ongoing clinical supervision, mentoring, and leadership development for Charge Nurses and Registered Nurses
